Xiaomi is reportedly working on parallel charging technology for smartphone batteries
A new rumor suggests that Xiaomi might be working on developing smartphone batteries that support parallel charging. According to the latest post on Weibo by leakster Digital Chat Station, the company is working on dual cell smartphone batteries with parallel charging technology to achieve faster charging speeds and charge rates.
Dual cell batteries have existed for a while now in modern smartphones where we see a large capacity battery is divided into two smaller units. Xiaomi, a pioneer in battery technology has achieved a super fast-charging rate of 120W with last year's Mi 10 Commemorative edition which carried a dual cell 4,500mAh battery.
This could change for better with this new technology. Parallel charging allows simultaneous charging of more than one battery unit, dividing charge speeds to individual cells, thus increasing charging speed. Currently, the Mi 11 Ultra caters to the fastest charging solution in India with a 5000mAh cell that supports 67W fast charging.
