The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) permitted the use of 1200MHz spectrum in the 6GHz band, on April 23, 2020. In easy words, this simply means your network problems are going to solve very soon.

Wi-Fi 4, Wi-Fi 5, Wi-Fi 6 and now Wi-Fi 6E this will be the most significant change in the last 20 years.

The previous versions of Wi-Fi were having a common problem of congestion. Which means if there are several Wi-Fi networks in your area, then too many signals will interfere with each other and will reduce your connection speed.

This happened because the current version of Wi-Fi is limited to 2 frequencies which are 2.5GHz and 5GHz, but Wi-Fi 6E will support all new 6GHz frequency.

WiFi 6E

Wi-Fi 6  has the maximum bandwidth of 40MHz with 2.4GHz, with a total no. of 11 channels. And 80MHz or sometimes 160MHz bandwidth with 5GHz.

However 6E routers could open up 1200MHz of spectrum in the 6Hz band. it also allows 14 additional 80MHz channels and 7 additional 160 MHz channels. And the most important thing is that these channels will not interfere with each other which means you will get a constant and high speed.

Wi-Fi 6E promises to get the speed of 9.6Gbps which is also the theoretical speed of the current version of Wi-Fi, but due to limited spectrum, the current version is not able to fulfil the theoretical speed. This problem will also get solve and we will be closer to the theoretical speed which is 9.6Gbps because of the large spectrum of 6GHz band.

However, for accessing the Wi-Fi 6E you will need specialised routers, laptops, smartphones and other devices that are designed for this network. And you have to wait till the end of this year for the compatible devices.
