Now You Can Add Eight Participants On A WhatsApp Video Call
Recently, WhatsApp has recently increased the maximum capacity of participants in video calls. Previously, only four participants can video call together and now it is increased to eight. This feature is available in the stable version of WhatsApp for Android and iOS.
For Android, the update has not arrived yet but will be available soon on the Google PlayStore. In the meantime, you can get the latest APK from the official website. If you are an iOS user can head straight to App Store and update to the latest version.
Before video calling your friends and family, just make sure that everyone has installed the latest version of WhatsApp on their smartphones.
WhatsApp Vs HouseParty
WhatsApp took this step of increasing the participant's capacity from four to eight to compete with HouseParty. HouseParty has recently gained a lot of popularity as it has more than 50 million downloads monthly. HouseParty allows a maximum of 8 participants to join a video call.
By adding this feature, WhatsApp can retain some of its audience. WhatsApp calls are end-to-end encrypted, which isn't the case in most video calls. Facebook has also launched another video calling service, Message Rooms to compete with Zoom. This app allows video calls to go on for an unlimited time and allows 50 participants to enter at the same time.
