Apple Maps now show COVID-19 Testing facility
Apple Maps will now show COVID-19 testing facilities in 50 US States and Puerto Rico. When a user search for "coronavirus test" on Apple Maps then the places that offer COVID-19 tests will be marked on your maps. Along with marked places Apple Maps will also display facilities' hours, address and phone number. Also, a warning stating that COVID-19 testing may require doctor's approval and appointment and website link to healthcare provider offering test.
The new testing facilities in Apple Maps follow Apple web portal last week to let hospital and healthcare providers submit their information to be shown on Apple Maps. Apple Maps shows a number of test centres in Arizona. For example, while searching for a test centre on Google Maps for the state doesn't show a testing centre there. Google began listing COVID-19 test centres in search results for the US. But it appears the Google doesn’t show nearly as many test centres when you search for them directly in Google Maps as Apple does on Apple Maps.
Google does show testing centres in maps in Google Search but does not as many when user search for COVID-19 test centre on Google maps.
Apple also made some updates to its mobility trends site, adding more cities such as Las Vegas, New Orleans, Portland, Salt Lake City and San Diego. Apple and Google are working together on Coronavirus tracking system that will be built into iOS and Android.
