Apple Event 2023 Highlights WWIDC
Apple is set to launch its latest iPhone 15 series today at 10:30 PM during its ‘Wonderlust event’. Apple will unveil at least four new smartphones, including iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. The company has been forced to make the change by the new European Union rules which demand all mobile devices.
1. iPhone 15 series pricing revealed
Apple has announced pricing for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Just like last year, the iPhone 15 Pro will be sold at starting price of $999, but the iPhone 15 Pro Max will start at a higher price point of $1,199 - presumably due to the new periscope camera setup. Here's the pricing for all smartphones.
2. iPhone 15 Pro can capture Spatial Video for the Apple Vision Pro headset
The new cameras on the iPhone 15 Pro are capable of capturing advanced high-resolution videos that can be played on Apple's first spatial computer, the Vision Pro that will go on sale in select markets next year.
3. iPhone 15 Pro Max to feature improved 5x telephoto camera
The new iPhone 15 Pro is equipped with an improved 48-megapixel primary camera with support for 24mm, 28mm, and 38 mm lens modes. It has a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and 12-megapixel 3x telephoto camera , but the iPhone 15 Pro Max has a 5x telephoto camera with 120mm focal length powered by a periscope camera setup.
4. New 'A17 Pro' chip debuts on iPhone Pro, faster USB performance
Apple says the new A17 Pro is equipped with a new architecture with support for 35 trillion operations per second along with improved GPU performance with support for ray tracing. The handset is also equipped with USB controller with USB 3 support for up to 10 gigabit transfer speeds, according to Apple.
5. iPhone 15 Pro to drop mute switch in favour of 'Action' button'
The iconic mute switch has been removed in favour of Apple's new 'Action' button that can be used to toggle silent or ring modes - but it can be programmed to perform other tasks like quickly starting a voice recording.
6. iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro announced with titanium chassis
The iPhone 15 Pro is here with a Grade 5 titanium chassis - the same material used on NASA's Mars rover - with a 6.1-inch display, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max has a larger 6.7-inch screen. The devices will be lighter thanks to the switch away from stainless steel, according to Apple.
7. iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus pricing
iPhone 15 pricing starts at $799 in the US while the base iPhone 15 Plus model is priced at $899, according to Apple.
8. Apple introduces the USB Type-C port with the iPhone 15
The iPhone 15 becomes the first iPhone to be equipped with a USB Type-C port. Apple is saying that USB Type-C has become universal, and it is a fact - it was arguably the last flagship smartphone maker to ship smartphones with its 10-year-old Lightning port.
9. iPhone 15 is equipped with Apple's A16 Bionic chip
Apple says the new iPhone 15 is equipped with the A16 Bionic chip that was introduced on the iPhone 14 Pro handsets last year. This is par for the course on Apple's smartphones now, and we can expect to see a more powerful chip on this year's Pro models.
It also features a second generation ultra wide band chip (UWB). You can also use it to find your friends in a crowded location, according to Apple. Apple also says the its satellite connectivity service is being upgraded with AAA integration in the US and the general service is coming to more countries this year.
10. iPhone 15 camera features new 48-megapixel primary camera
The iPhone 15 is equipped with a 48-megapixel primary sensor, and the phone is equipped with a new 2x telephoto zoom, according to the company.It will also bring an improved portrait mode for an improved bokeh mode that will use machine learning to automatically switch on portrait mode when clicking images of human and animal subjects.
11. Apple Event 2023: iPhone 15 with Dynamic Island unveiled
Apple has just unveiled the new iPhone 15 with the Dynamic Island technology from the company's previous generation Pro models. The display on the phone has a peak brightness of 2,000 nits, according to Apple. The iPhone 15 has a 6.1-inch display while the iPhone 15 Plus has a 6.7-inch panel.

Apple Watch Ultra pricing starts at $799, while the new Apple Watch Series 9 model is priced at $399.
13. Apple Event 2023: Apple Watch Ultra 2 unveiled
The company has just unveiled the new Apple Watch Ultra with similar features as the Apple Watch Series 9. However, it has a peak brightness of 3,000 nits which is the highest ever on an Apple Watch. It features a modular watch face to take advantage of the new display technology. It offers the same 36 hours of battery life which can further be extended using Low Power Mode just like its predecessor, according to Apple.
14. Apple Watch Series 9 is the first product from Apple that is completely carbon neutral
The iPhone maker has announced that its new smartwatch is its first product that is 100 percent carbon neutral - certified by an unnamed third party. Apple has also dropped the use of leather in its products and introduced a new fabric called FineWoven with 68 percent post-consumer materials.

The screen of the Apple Watch Series 9 offers a peak brightness of 2,000 nits. You will also be able to "double tap" your fingers to pick up calls and perform other actions, according to Apple.
17. Apple Event 2023: Apple Watch Series 9 unveiled
Apple has just unveiled the new Apple Watch Series 9 smartwatch with a new S9 chip with "all-day" 18 hour battery life, according to the company. It will also support Siri requests on the device, without requiring them to be sent to the cloud. It will also support checking health data using Siri using your voice, in English and Mandarin.
