Nokia is planning to launch a rugged smartphone soon

Nokia is planning the launch of a new smartphone and judging from its teaser, it's going to be a rugged phone. Nokia Mobile teased the device on its Twitter handle mentioning a launch date of July 27.

The teaser shows a phone design resembling the recent Nokia X10 and X20 with four cameras in a circular housing with ZEISS branding in the middle next to an LED flash. According to recent rumors, this device could be the XR20 which was spotted in a Geekbench listing last month.

Moreover, a leaked render from the Nokia community post gives us a first look at the device. The image shows a dark blue colored phone covered in water droplets. However, it reveals a different camera cutout from the one seen above. The bottom of the device reveals a speaker cutout, Type-C port, and headphone jack with the power button on the left-hand side and volume rockers on the right.

Nokia XR20 first look, a ruggedized midranger

The Nokia XR20 will reportedly house an SoC coupled with 4GB of RAM. It will feature a 6.67-inch HD+ LCD, 48MP + 13MP cameras and a 5,000mah battery. Taking a hint from the water droplets, the handset may also feature an IP68 rating.

As a whole, this new rugged offering from Nokia is expected to launch as a midrange smartphone and within the upcoming week, we may get to learn more about this device. Till then, stay tuned.
