Jio to probably launch its 5G phone and JioBook during its AGM and JioPages now available on Android Tv
Jio soon to be releasing its 5G smartphone has been in the rumour mill since last year but there was no information revealed regarding its expected launch date. Now, ET Telecom has come up with the news that suggests that the Jio 5G phone may get unveiled during the companies Annual General Meeting (AGM). The event takes place during Q3, probably in August or September. Apart from the 5G phone, Jio can also release its JioBook to the public in the same event.

Noone currently knows anything related to the specification of the phone apart from the company itself. But we do know that based on the pricing the company usually targets the phone will be around 3K. Now with this price on our mind, we can get an idea regarding the specification of the smartphone. At this price point, we can only expect a low tier chipset like the Qualcomm 400 series or some unannounced low-cost MediaTek 5G chipset. We also know the phone will run on a new version of Android thanks to Jio's partnership with Google.
Reliance JioBook specs:
We already know that the Reliance JioBook would not the operating based on X86 operating systems instead it will get its own custom Android version. It was spotted online using a Snapdragon 665 chipset along with the Snapdragon X12 LTE modem. Earlier prototypes of the JioBook had a Windows Key, which will not make it to the final product itself cause the device won't be running on Windows OS.
The JioBook is expected to have an HD ready display with 2GB LPDDR4X RAM and 32GB eMMC storage. A higher variant will bump the specs to 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The device will also have a HDMI connector for video output, Bluetooth, a dual-band WIFI, and more. More info regarding the specification of the device will be made public once its launch date is close.
JioPages now available on Android TV's
The latest update that JioPages got has made the app available for Android TV which now allows users to browse the Web directly from their larger screens. It also has voice-based search support to enhance the ease of surfing the web. Users can also bookmark the pages they frequently visit or access them from their web history. It also has a built-in download manager to help you monitor the content you have downloaded or currently downloading. The Web Browser comes with the support of 8 Indian languages and includes a dedicated video section and a PDF reader. It also has a new section that can show trending news in any one of the 8 supported languages. Users can also download and read e-paper on the big screen itself. JioPages is currently claimed to have over 10M download on the platform.
