Psyonix's highly popular title, Rocket League is soon coming to mobile devices. According to an official blog post, the new, standalone game is dubbed Rocket League Sideswipe and will arrive on Android and iOS devices later this year.

Psyonix says it will preserve the core competitive gameplay of Rocket League on its mobile version while bringing in a new perspective for mobile devices. Rocket League Sideswipe will let players compete in 1v1 or 2v2 matches each lasting 2-minutes, which makes it half of the duration of a standard Rocket League match.

Rocket League Sideswipe will switch to touch controls for controlling the car. Moreover, the game will contain advanced mechanics as players level up in competitive ranks. The game will also have robust car customization similar to Rocket League.

"We have a lot more to reveal about the game in the coming months as we get closer to release," Psyonix stated.

Psyonix says the game will be free-to-play, just like the main version which adopted the same model last year. Currently, the game is getting a limited-time regional alpha test on Android via Play Store for players in Australia and New Zealand. Also, more information on future betas in additional regions will be available in the coming months.
