YouTube testing automatic translation tool for video titles on desktop and mobile
Some users now have reported that mobile and desktop versions of YouTube are now showing options for automatic translation of video titles. The videos spotted by users to show such effect display the title, description and closed captions all automatically translated to their selected language.
This news was first reported by Android Police and by analyzing the screenshots submitted to them by these users they have come to the conclusion that this auto-translation feature on YouTube is currently being tested only for those users who have set their primary language to either Spanish, Portuguese, or Turkish. A video with a translated title will show a small translation icon that precedes the title.
This change is most likely from the server end, and updating the app would not result in a toggle option for enabling or disabling the auto-translation feature. This feature will help increase the potential of English videos by increasing their reach to more audiences and open the accessibility for English videos to non-English speakers.
