WhatsApp may soon allow users to choose quality of video files to be shared
WhatsApp has been quite notorious when it comes to degrading video quality when it is shared on the platform. However, this may change as the Facebook-owned social media giant may finally allow users to choose video quality before sending it over to someone.
This new feature was spotted by WABetaInfo in the latest WhatsApp beta version (v2.21.14.6) and their report confirms that the feature is still under development.
There are three modes available with the feature as of now - Auto, Best Quality, and Data Saver. As the name suggests, the "Auto" mode automatically selects the best compression algorithm for videos. Similarly, "Best quality" selects the best quality available.
The "Data Saver" mode compresses your video that saves your internet data while transferring. However, this mode may result in degraded video quality and at the same time will take up lesser storage space. This is quite useful if you have no internet data or storage space to spare.
WhatsApp plans on rolling out this feature in a future update, so stay tuned as we bring in further information.
