OnePlus Unveils HydrogenOS 11 With New Features, Design Changes Showing What to Expect From OxygenOS 11

Recently, OnePlus has announced its latest Android 11-based HydrogenOS in China. HydrogenOS is a user interface for OnePlus smartphones and it contains loads of new features, design changes, and improvements. HydrogenOS is similar to OxygenOS and is available for China users only. This update gives an idea about what we can expect from the OxygenOS in the future. OnePlus showed off the new Always-on Display, redesigned weather app, a new dark theme, updates in the Gallery, voice notes, and more.

On August 10, OnePlus hosted a live stream where they showcased the latest HydrogenOS which is based on Android 11. HydrogenOS 11 is available for download in China now.

HydrogenOS 11 Features

Gallery app: The OnePlus gallery gets a new design. Also, the app comes with an integrated image and video editing features. From the video shared by OnePlus, it can be seen that the layout of the app has been changed and it has 3 tabs that can be swiped through.
Always-on Display: During the live stream, OnePlus showed off the Always-on Display feature, the theme for which is designed in collaboration with Parsons College in the US. It shows the total number of unlocks and when the phone was unlocked.
Improved dark mode: In the recent update, a shortcut switch for dark mode has been added to HydrogenOS 11. The user can set it to turn on automatically at a certain time, or according to sunset and sunrise. It has also passed WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) Double-A certification that means it offers a better dark mode experience to visually impaired users.
Memory Management: The latest ORM memory management system reduces the chances of app being killed in the background as it can run more applications at the same time without using more RAM.
Weather App: The in-built Weather app has been updated in HydrogenOS 11. The app comes with new animations and backgrounds. It also shows various weather effects depending on the actual weather. The user also gets the usual forecast as well.
Other Features: For better usability with one hand, the new OS brings a one-handed mode. A new live wallpaper is also available that changes according to the changes in the sky, three new themes in Meditation mode (Zen Mode), improved voice notes with support for speech-to-text conversion, and many more. The user can also see some changes in the icons and a more squircle design that will presumably be an addition to the previously available options. Moreover, there will be updates to the animations as well.
