USA admin revokes Intel’s license to supply chips to Huawei
Just when it appeared that things are finally lining up for Huawei, the company has been dealt with another major blow by the Trump administration in the United States. As per the report from Reuters, the Trump administration has notified the Chinese giant that it is revoking certain licenses granted to its suppliers, inclusive of Intel. It doesn’t stop just there. In addition to this, it has also informed Huawei that the administration is planning to reject dozens of purposes for licenses to supply components and services to Huawei.
Back in 2019, the U.S. Commerce Department placed Huawei and its subsidiaries on the “Entity List,” preventing many U.S. companies from doing business with the Chinese company. One of the companies that were affected by this selection was chipmaker Intel, though in late September the Commerce Department gave Intel a license to provide some products to Huawei. Now, however, that license has been revoked.
