OnePlus Z also known to people as the more affordable choice or lite version of "OnePlus 8 series", will be unveiled to the public most probably in July as revealed my the leakster MaxJ. This smartphone was expected to be released along with it's sibling phones is now due for a late launch expected to be in July.

The delay is being blamed on COVID-19 outbreak, much like everything else. Earlier it was set to be first OnePlus smartphone not to use a Snapdragon chipset, allegedly it was opting for a MediaTek Dimensity 1000L instead which is a new chip much like SD765G.This was still enable the smartphone to have 5G connectivity. But as we are moving forward a new remour has surfaced about OnePlus Z sporting a SD765G, instead of earlier believed MediaTek Dimensity 1000L.

The phote leaked by MaxJ shows that the smartphone is having a punchhole selfie camera in the centre unlike it's sibling phones which have their's at the top left.

What We Expect OnePlus Z will Deliver:

1.Chipset

Be it the Snapdragon 765G or the MediaTek Dimensity 1000L both perform almost similarly. While SD765G has a better picture processing capability and high powered single core processor, MediaTek Dimensity 1000L performs better in the GPU department. Even though MediaTek Dimensity 1000L does have a higher AnTuTu score than SD765G but this score can vary from device to device. Both processor have 5G connectivity.

2.Camera Setup

The smartphone is expected to have a camera for selfies in the center. Which is unlike previous models which sported either a notch design or had a popup camera. According to the leaked pictures it is also set to have a 3 camera setup at the back.

Other Features includes a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with a punch-hole design. The smartphone is also expected to come along with features like dual-SIM support, NFC, fast charging and more. The phone is also rumoured to feature an in-display fingerprint scanner. All of this will be backed by a 4,000mAh battery.

Conclusion: Now whether this smartphone is a good choice to have will depend on it's value for money. The expected price of the smartphone is along the line of 33K in India for the entry level. According to me this smartphone will be a real steal if the entry level price can go down to 30K. Since all these specs are rumoured only and nothing has been confirmed by the OnePlus team we can't really be sure of it's price. Stay tuned for further updates on the smartphone.
