Google is soon launching a new Locked Folder feature to help the users to hide their sensitive photos and videos from the main gallery and save them in a secured folder. This folder will be protected by a password or biometric in devices having Android OS version 6 or above.

For the latest Pixel phone models, the company has announced to launch the feature in June, whereas for other devices the exact date is yet to be announced.

Setting up this feature is simple and explained in the following steps:

  1. Open Google Photos app
  2. Go to Library
  3. Tap on Utilities
  4. Lastly, tap on Locked Folder

The users can manually select the pictures that they want to secure in the folder from here.

Every picture that users move to the Locked Folder in the Google Photos app will not be backed up in the Cloud.
