DigitalOcean data leaked with expose of customers’ billing details
DigitalOcean also suffered a data breach last year when they made a document containing information about customer's accounts available via a public link. DigitalOcean has emailed customers warning of a data breach involving customers’ billing data. It’s not the first time that DigitalOcean has suffered a data breach that exposed customer information.
Companies with customers in Europe are subject to GDPR and can face fines of up to 4% of their global annual revenue. DigitalOcean, the popular cloud-hosting provider, has told some of its customers that their billing details were exposed due to what it described as a “flaw.” Cloud hosting provider DigitalOcean has disclosed a data breach after a flaw exposed customers' billing information.
DigitalOcean states that they have fixed the flaw and disclosed the breach to data protection authorities. It is not clear what agencies were notified. BleepingComputer has reached out to DigitalOcean with further questions but has not heard back at this time.
In an email sent out to affected users, DigitalOcean explained that an unauthorized party had managed to exploit the flaw to gain access to billing information.
