Delhi Police cautions against new WhatsApp scam using MTNL name
WhatsApp is one of the most popular apps that cyber culprits use for targeting internet users. Now, it another similar case, fraudsters are using MTNL name and totem for duping WhatsApp users into giving up their particular details, which can also be used for duping them out of their plutocrat. Delhi Police, via a post on its sanctioned Twitter handle, noted that it has witnessed a sharp shaft in fraud cases wherein the name and official totem of telecom service provider MTNL is being used for committing cyber fraud. In the post, Delhi Police also said that WhatsApp users are getting dispatches from scammers pretending to be MTNL. In the communication, scammers ask WhatsApp users to modernize their KYC details or threat to get their SIM card blocked. Also, Read- WhatsApp’s forthcoming Quick Replies point will let you respond to dispatches without opening the app.

In a post shared by the official Delhi police handle on Twitter, users have been warned against such scams. Some measures are recommended to keep yourself safe from such frauds.

— Never click on stray links.
— Download apps from trusted sources only
— MTNL does not carry KYC verification over WhatsApp. So, avoid responding to such messages.
