Airtel partners with Nokia to boost network services
India is the second-largest telecoms market in the world and is expected to reach 920 million unique mobile customers by 2025, which will also include 88 million 5G connections according to the GSMA2. Airtel partners with Nokia to improve its operational efficiency and service quality Nokia's SON solution which comprises of Nokia EdenNet SON software will help improve Airtel's network performance by automatically identifying and resolving network issues. This is not the first time that Airtel has joined hands with Nokia. Previously, the telco has given a $500 million deal to Nokia for installing 4G technology in Gujarat, Bihar, and UP East
The deal will allow Airtel to offer good networks in the rural part and will prepare for the upcoming networks, such as 5G. Under this deal, both Airtel and Nokia will deploy 300,000 radio units bands like 1800 Mhz, 2100 Mhz, 2300 Mhz, and 900 Mhz. The deployment is likely to be completed in the next two years. “ This is an important agreement for the future of connectivity. This project will enhance their current networks and deliver best-in-class connectivity to Airtel customers but also lay the foundations for 5G services in the future,"
In fact, Nokia said that the demand for data has been increased by 47% in the country. If we talk about Airtel than it seems that it is trying its level best to give tough competition to Reliance Jio.
Nokia’s SRAN solution helps operators to manage their 2G, 3G, and 4G networks from one platform reducing network complexity, increasing cost efficiencies, and future-proofing investment. Nokia Global Services will also play a crucial role in the installation, planning, and deployment of the project, which will be executed via the cloud-based Nokia Delivery Platform.
The solution uses predictive Machine Learning (ML) and interworks with analytics platforms, enabling the operator to take proactive action to optimize network utilization and improve the user experience.
