HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Apple iPhone 15 series will include a USB-C port rather than a Lightning port.
  • The iPhone 15 range will be the first to use a USB Type-C connection rather than a Lightning cable.
  • The iPhone 15 series will be released in 2023.

Apple is preparing to debut the iPhone 14 series in September of this year, and rumours suggest that the lineup will consist of four models, excluding the tiny version. Except for the unique punch-hole cutout design on the Pro versions, the models will be substantially identical to their predecessors. Despite this, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims that the iPhone 15 series will be the first to use the USB Type-C port instead of the Lightning cord. According to the analyst, supply chain sources are cited.
Given Ming-Chi Kuo's track record with Apple leaks, we are convinced that the forthcoming iPhone 15 series will use a USB Type-C connection instead of lightning for charging. This change is significant for customers because having a single cord to charge most gadgets is convenient.

iPhone 15 to shift to USB Type-C port

Ming-Chi Kuo, a well-known Apple analyst, believes that Apple will ultimately switch to a USB Type-C port with the iPhone 15 series next year. It's worth mentioning, though, that this isn't the first time Apple has been rumoured to switch to a USB Type-C port for iPhones, since there have been numerous rumours about it since 2017. Kuo has forecast this transition numerous times.

We're hoping to see a USB Type-C port on the next iPhone because it eliminates the need for numerous charging cables. If this claim is correct, the iPhone 14 will be the last iPhone with a Lightning connector. For those who are unaware, Apple has switched to USB-C for the majority of its premium gadgets, including the iPads. This modification will result in faster charging and broader compatibility with Apple's own USB-C powered devices.

We'll find out if this claim is correct when the iPhones are released next year. Stay tuned.
