Google approaches Amitabh Bachchan to be the new voice of Maps and help us to Navigate Roads

Imagine that one day you’re driving and are confused about where to go. You open up Google Maps, start navigation, and suddenly, Amitabh Bachchan’s voice comes through the speakers and tells you to take a right in 300 meters. Well, that could soon become a reality.

Amitabh Bachchan is one of the biggest Bollywood actors in India. He has acted in over 200 Indian films, hosted television shows, and sung several songs since 1970. Besides his amazing acting, Big B is also known for his amazing voice. His soothing voice has won the hearts of millions over the years. According to the latest report, the 'Agneepath' actor might be all set to provide his voice to one of the most used Map applications, Google Maps.

The report states that Google has approached Bachchan as its choice for the voice of Google Maps. The report in Mid-Day further states that Bachchan has been offered a hefty amount for the task and owing to the social-distancing restrictions, will have to record his voice at home if he decides to accept the offer. However, there has been no official announcement on this matter. Neither Google nor Bachchan has commented on it.

Till now, Google Maps features the voice of ‘Karen Jacobsen’, who is a New York-based entertainer. She is also the voice of Apple’s Siri voice assistant. It is said that Bachchan will only record his voice for the Hindi voice of the application and the English voice will remain of Karen Jacobsen. This is not the first time that Google has joined hands with a Bollywood celebrity. Back In 2018, the company collaborated with leading production house Yash Raj Films to use Aamir Khan's character, Firangi from 'Thugs of Hindostan' for the Google Maps app, for the promotions of the movie.

Conclusion

Meanwhile, Google has rolled out a bunch of new features to its Maps app to help more travelers stay on top of all the information related to Covid-19 areas and transit, while on the move. Now it will also tell users how crowded transit lines are, pull alerts from local transit agencies, show Covid-19 checkpoints alert while driving, and more. And Since we all know that Amitabh Bachchan tested positive for coronavirus and is admitted to the hospital for the treatment. We all hope that he soon gets well and we soon hear his voice while navigating the directions on Google Maps.
