Volvo Windshield AR Rigid Launched
The Swedish machine mammoth has just blazoned a cooperation with an Israel grounded start up, Spectralics. Together, the two companies will be working on a new technology that will offer people a heads-up display (HUD) for a windshield. For those ignorant, a HUD is a point that's seen in military aircrafts like fighter spurts in which pivotal details like speed, altitude and other pivotal information is displayed in front of the airman. Preliminarily, we had reported on Huawei publicizing an AR HUD tech that would turn auto windshields into a smart screen. And now, it seems that Volvo is also working on an analogous system as well.
Spectralics is developing what it calls a multi layered thin combiner (MLTC) film that can bed in the windshield of a auto. This would enable the vehicle to turn the whole window or windshield into a large stoked reality grounded display. As stated over, this HUD display could help offer druggies a number of pivotal information, like pointing out implicit hazards or offering details regarding the vehicle’s immediate vicinity.
According to Volvo, the wide field of view offered by the HUD can display “can inseminate a sense of distance as virtual objects are superimposed onto the real-world terrain for a safe and immersive experience.” While this technology does sound relatively intriguing, it's still in early stages of development. Although, since Huawei is formerly working on this technology and now an established auto brand like Volvo is developing this technology as well, it won’t be a surprise if further automakers take note of this system.
