Samsung patents dual-display laptop with a flexible foldable screen

The patent, which was spotted by 91mobiles, indicates that Samsung may be developing a laptop with dual displays. The brand had filed a patent application that seems to have some features in common with the ASUS ZenBook Fold model. For those who don't know, the ZenBook Fold laptop from the Taiwanese PC manufacturer has a foldable 17.3-inch display. Depending on whether you fold it or use it with a wireless keyboard, you can use it as a single monitor panel, laptop, or even a tablet.

This suggests that this product might perform similarly to the dual-display ASUS ZenBook Pro Duo. There is a small area that could serve as the laptop's touchpad on the side of the keyboard. Recently, a new patent from the South Korean tech giant was discovered, and it reveals a design that is very similar to one of ASUS's current notebook models. The patent indicates that Samsung may be developing a laptop with dual displays. Samsung seems to have packed a physical keyboard on one half of the screen.

The South Korean tech giant seems to have packed a physical keyboard on one side of the screen. This keyboard occupies a smaller space on a corner of the display's lower half. This indicates that while it has a full foldable screen, it's not an entirely all-display surface. Therefore, the portion that houses the keyboard might serve as a second display.

Designing

According to the leaks, the business is also working on a laptop with foldable display technology. Samsung will soon launch a Samsung foldable laptop. It appears that Samsung is developing a new laptop with dual displays. Recently, a new patent from the South Korean tech giant was discovered, and it reveals a design that is very similar to one of ASUS's current notebook models. Let's take a look at what this Samsung patent looks like.

Lenovo & ASUS aspect

Here, collapsible computers are nothing new. One of the first significant laptops with a folding display was the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold. Similarly, one of the largest laptops with a folding screen is the recently released ASUS Zenbook 17 Fold OLED. The United States Design Patent Department received the patent application back in 2020.

Are there more folding display laptops in the market?

According to the patent, the next Samsung folding laptop can be folded in half, reducing the device's footprint by half, precisely like some of the more well-known folding laptops. The laptop is expected to use a similar hinge system to the one on the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and the device is expected to run on Windows 11 OS. As of now, there is no word on the launch date of the Samsung folding laptop.

Conclusion

Unfortunately, the patent does not provide further information about the device and does not specify any specifications. We may learn more about this patented Samsung foldable laptop in the near future.
